The Health of Our Planet

Over the last few months I have been picking up on bits on and in the news regarding such topics as; The unreliability of global warming statistics and therefore the unreliability of future predictions as to how Our Planet will be effected by Global Warming; The effect of carbon dioxide on ocean life; Over-fishing in The Atlantic Ocean, Items such as this, combined with a general increase in my interest on these matters or even an absorption of them into my conciousness, coupled with my increased awareness of scepticism that exists towards Global Warming, or even just 'Global Health', has prompted me to broach the subject on 'The Health of Our Planet'.

My initial reaction on the current state of affairs is one of mild horror, specifically regarding 'Global Warming Theory' to coin a phrase if it or one similar doesn't exist already, that 'They', the detractors, stand so resolutely and stubbornly in the way of a process of change that may 'save' our planet. I wish to look into exactly what the detractors are saying? And so...
  • Is what 'they' (the detractors) are saying based on any scientific evidence or indeed, based on the lack of convincing scientific evidence for the case of Global Warming?
  • And if it is the latter, is it merely opportunistic haranguing, by parties that have a vested interest, of bodies that were up to now deemed as unbiased-purveyors-of-the-truth?
  • Do the parties against the case of Global Warming have a legitimate argument?
Seems a good a place as any to open a discussion on 'The Health of Our Planet'... Once again, all comments welcome :)

A very good post Craig and so relevant. We who want to know answers are faced with the fact, I believe, that truth is buried in the serious studies available, and not in the noisy opinions (If that's what they are)of over-paid 'professional' journalists and their editors who never tell us who is paying them to say what.

However, most people are persuaded by the media, and none of us have the time to study anything but a tiny fraction of data available. Climate change has been happening for millions of years, and even if man's effect on this is minimal or non-existent, the forces at work to change how the masses think is beyond our influence (you and me, that is) Also, if the hidden agenda is to slow down consumption, and reliance on foreign power, this may not be a bad thing.

Even if it's based on lies and deception.

Most voters vote on the basis of their stupid needs and greeds, not complex truth.

Gosh! what an un-PC, arrogant, cynical position - must be worth posting by Dr.A.

Hi Bob and thanks for posting.

Apologies for the delay, but it seems my blogger dashboard (or my laptop) hides comments and then presents them when it sees fit!? Like 9 days later??? Anyhow...

I think I have an idea of the 'forces' that change how the masses think as you mentioned... and yes, a complex web of relationships, greed, corruption, need, supply, demand, nature etc... it surely must be...

I am interested though Bob, about what you meant on the 'hidden agenda' possibly being to slow down consumption and reliance on foreign power? Interesting statement...

And common sense sees through my limited political knowledge to be able to agree that most voters vote how you say... as humans are generally lazy and greedy...
